1. Easy to understand lessons.
It is important that classes are easy to understand. Our aim is to make
all our classes easy to understand for all our students.
Our lessons are carefully planned, in order that every student can understand
and improve their linguistic ability. Heisei Gakuin was set up 24 years
ago, specialising to assist Japanese elementary school, junior-high school
and high school students. Now, we have students from young learners to
university students. We use all our knowledge and experience to develop
our Japanese language program.
2. We also offer a program for the J-test and ETJ.
a) Throw away the books and let us go into the real world!
One of the features of our teaching program is that our students have the opportunity to leave the classroom and go to places where Japanese is used on a daily basis, such as the city, parks, the station and supermarkets. Here our students have the chance to see real Japanese used in real situations.
b) Learn different expressions for each situation. The Japanese used to
speak to a friend and the Japanese to speak with your boss is significantly
different. In Japan, the correct use of honorifics in the right situation
is essential. Through our program, we will demonstrate how to use honorifics
in the right situation to the right person.
c) Each lesson begins with review. Review is often an area that is overlooked,
however, it is important to review each lesson to ensure that each student
understands previous materials, before moving on and building on this knowledge
with new material.
d) We offer small classes. Feedback from students show that the main concern for many Japanese language students are that the classes are too big, which makes the class difficult to understand as there is not enough time to ask questions.
e) Our policy is to make all our students enjoy learning the Japanese language. The importance of enjoyment is extremely important because as long as you like learning the language, your ability to speak Japanese will improve and your life in Japan will be happy.
1. How do I know what level I am? Or how do I know my Japanese language
level?
On the first day of the program you will take a proficiency test to determine
your level of Japanese. The test consists of a written paper and interview.
Classes are divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
If you have studied Japanese before, we will place you in a class according
to your objectives in studying Japanese and how long you plan to study.
2. Is there a dormitory?
Unfortunately our School does not have a dormitory. The majority of the students studying here live in an apartment or privately owned dormitory. We will be glad to introduce you to a real estate agent and or a landlord. You may choose your room after you have seen it yourself on your arrival. Until you decide on a place, you have an option to stay at the host family’s house on our list. Also we can find hotel accommodation.
3. What time are the classes held?
Classes are held from 9 am to 1 pm, Monday to Friday (four 50 minute long
classes). There will be 2 to 3 week spring, summer, fall and winter vacation.
4. Is it possible to purchase a commuter pass?
There is a student discount for train & subway.
5. Where are the students mostly from?
Most students are from Asia, such as Korea and China. Currently students
from 8 different countries are studying at our school. We welcome students
from all over the world.
6. What happens after finishing the Japanese Language School program?
Many students enter university and/or vocational college. However there
are some who start work after the program.
7. Are instructions given & classes held only in Japanese?
Yes, instructions are given & classes held only in Japanese. It is a rule not to use other languages. Since students are from different countries, Japanese is the common language of communication. We encourage students to use Japanese even during breaks.
8. Is it difficult to get a college student visa?
Students need to show a strong commitment to studying Japanese as well
as financial security to pay for tuition, living expenses and other related
costs. If you have specific questions that we have not answered here, please
consult us.
